Je vous propose un tirage d’une marine dessinée et gravée par Jean-Jérôme Baugean vers 1810. JJ Baugean (Marseille 1764- 1819 ?) était le graveur du Roi sous la Restauration.
Elle représente la frégate américaine Le Président, construite au chantier naval C.Berg à New York et lancée en avril 1800; elle est armée de 44 canons.

I am offering a print of a seascape drawn and engraved by Jean-Jérôme Baugean around 1810. JJ Baugean (Marseille 1764-1819 ?) was the King’s engraver during the Restoration.

It depicts USS President of the United States Navy, a 44-gun sailing frigate built by C. Berg, East River, New York. It was launched on April 10, 1800, and sailed from New York on her first cruise, 5 August 1800, Comdr. Thomas Truxtun in command.
President was one of the six original frigates authorized by George Washington for construction by the Naval Act of 1794.

Engraving dimensions : 37 cm x 49 cm (overall ?), 32.5 cm x 45 cm (visible)
Framing : mahogany frame
Very good condition
